Anne Shelton  Plaque

Your help needed

Ann Shelton's Niece asks for your support.

Hello, its Kelly here, Anne's niece

We have nominated Anne Shelton, the wartime singer and "Force's Favourite", for an award in Southwark Council's 2007 "Blue Plaque" scheme. If she wins an award, a plaque will be placed on the house in Court Lane, Dulwich where she lived for over 50 years.

It will be a fitting tribute to a hugely popular and much-loved singer, who shot to fame in 1940 with the Ambrose Orchestra and became the war-time "Force's Favourite" with her wonderful songs and personality. Anne was later awarded an OBE for organising shows for the "Not Forgotten Association" of disabled ex-servicemen and women, which she continued until her death in 1994. Details of Anne's career and songs can be found on www.anne-shelton.co.uk

Please support Anne's nomination - there are other nominations and the award depends entirely on the votes she receives. Votes need to be received by 29 February 2008.
