Great News for all Tex Beneke Fans.
Some time ago now I received an email from Bob Taber a record producer
in America who had in 1984 recorded a live Jazz session featuring Tex
Beneke with a small group of top professional musicians. This was for
Tex an unusual move as he had told Bob Taber that he was not really a
Jazz musician, but as we all know having heard his hundreds of recording,
that he was a brilliant improviser and many of his wonderful Jazz solo's
can be heard in the original Glenn Miller recordings of the day and well
into the 1990's with his own band.
Bob Taber wanted to release a CD of this event, which came near to his
retirement, and he never got around to doing it. A couple of years ago
he wrote to me in the hope that I could suggest a record company who would
be interested in taking this project on. Unfortunately although there
was interest in this from various parties no one at that time proceeded.
I have today receive an email from one of the participant in that Jazz
group with Tex, who has been given the rights to publish this recording
session, and is asking me if there is interest amongst our members that
would be interested in this session if he were to go to the expense of
producing this, and releasing it on a CD.
In the hope that this would happen I am hoping to encourage enough people
to respond to me with their comments (as long or as short as you like)
in order I can send them on, in the hope that this interest would be enough
to convince the prodcer and this CD to become a reality.
Two years ago Bob Taber sent me part of this session for my interest and
as a Tex Beneke fan I was thrilled with the result and was amazed by some
of the performances that Tex gave at this session. I feel that there must
be a lot of Tex Beneke fans amongst you and hope that you will let me
know as soon as possible if you feel there is enough interest among us
Big band and Tex Beneke fans to warrant this CD to be produced.

I'm sure there is, but
I need your help to convince the producer that this is a fact.
Please reply soon while the iron is hot.
